Physicochemical Characterization and Functional Potential of Phaseolus vulgaris L. and Phaseolus coccineus L. Landrace Green Beans
نویسندگان
چکیده
The green bean is an important crop worldwide, because it rich in protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, as well bioactive compounds that provide with functional properties; however, the composition of many landraces still unknown. purpose this project was to characterize Phaselus vulgaris coccineus L. landrace beans on pH, titratable acidity, total soluble solids, sugars, color parameters, phenols, monomeric anthocyanins, vitro antioxidant activity (DPPH FRAP). Regarding content differences were registered between both species, opposed results observed solids. Color parameters showed higher reddish tones for P. landraces, though had a phenolic content, especially which correlated directly by DPPH FRAP. In protein species highest content. These could contribute greater use even promote genetic improvement outstanding pods serve one main food products rural regions benefits.

Diversification and Population Structure in Common Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Wild accessions of crops and landraces are valuable genetic resources for plant breeding and for conserving alleles and gene combinations in planta. The primary genepool of cultivated common beans includes wild accessions of Phaseolus vulgaris. These are of the same species as the domesticates and therefore are easily crossable with cultivated accessions. Molecular marker assessment of wild bea...
متن کاملZolfino landrace (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) from Pratomagno: general and specific features of a functional food
BACKGROUND The Zolfino bean is a variety of Phaseolus vulgaris, which is cultivated in a limited area of Tuscany, Italy, and is widely appreciated for its flavor and culinary uses. OBJECTIVES A yellow Zolfino landrace cultivated in the Leccio-Reggello area was characterized and compared with three other varieties of Phaseolus vulgaris (i.e. the Borlotto, Cannellino, and Corona beans) in terms...
متن کاملNutritive Value of Navy Beans (phaseolus Vulgaris).
It has been known since 1920 (Johns & Finks, 1920) that the navy bean is an inferior source of protein for rats. Everson & Heckert (1944) reported that raw navy beans were injurious to rats when given at a 10% protein level. They also reported that autoclaving the beans destroyed the injurious effect. Kakade & Evans (1963a, b) confirmed this report and observed that rats given 10% protein as ra...
متن کاملStudies of l-Cysteine Biosynthetic Enzymes in Phaseolus vulgaris L.
In higher plants the biosynthesis of l-cysteine from l-serine, acetylCoA, and sulfide requires serine transacetylase and O-acetylserine sulfhydrylase. The distribution of these enzymes in kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Red Kidney) seedlings was determined. Between one-third and two-thirds of the serine transacetylase activity was associated with mitochondria, whereas all of the O-acetyl...
